The new Pawnee Water Treatment Plant was put online in January, 2001, with subsequent improvements in 2015 and 2016. We are staffed by certified DEQ water operators and lab technicians, who monitor, perform lab tests, sample, and repair broken equipment at the plant. We are supplied by nine wells and three storage tanks. We lime soften and chlorinate the water before it enters the distribution system.

The water department is responsible for the repair and maintenance of the water distribution and wastewater collection system for the City of Pawnee. The Water Department's staff works hard to ensure that the public receives a safe, adequate, supply of potable water; a functional wastewater collection system, and an adequate water supply to the fire protection systems.
