The Electric Department oversees services and maintains approximately 110 miles of primary distribution electrical lines including one substation. All traffic signal operations are installed and maintained by this department. It also includes the Right of Way (ROW) Department that maintains power line clearance and street right of way.
All Pawnee electrical journeyman linemen are registered through the Department of Labor and must complete all required training criteria. This includes 8,000 hours of on the job training and completing the Lineman Academic Merchant Course within the first four years of employment. The division employees are certified in pole top/bucket rescue and CPR/First Aid.
